The Flower That Blooms....
When you look out your window
And you see a fresh flower in bloom...
Know it is me...
Caring for you.
I have been watered by your tears,
And my beauty is for you to behold.
My fragrance is just for you.
When you sit in the evening shadows
And you hear the stroking of a cricket's wings...
Know it is me...
Playing my song for you.
Only in the stillness of the night
Can my adoration be heard.
Listen so that I might give you tranquility.
When you go to bed at night
And the moonlight filters onto your pillow...
Know it is me...
Wanting to be near you.
The soft glow is my heart,
Poured out for only you to see.
I lie beside you to give you security.
When you wake up in the morning
And the rays from the sun touch your face...
Know it is me...
Sending you a warm "Good morning."
I'm here to give you reassurance,
That you aren't alone.
I'm glad you are in the world.
When you behold all of creation
And you wonder who is your friend...
Know it is me...
Here to make you smile.
My presence is all around you
To remind you that someone loves you.
It's me, my love is forever.

The above poem was written in 1993 when I first returned from a 17 day vacation in Maui. I had gone over there with my first love when I was 22. It should have been a very romantic trip but instead it was painful and lonely. I found myself walking the beach alone and staring at the wonderous beauty being totally filled with something I had never known before. Since I was hundreds of miles from my nearest problem, I finally realized the best thing I could do was give it all up and just enjoy.
It's amazing how simple life became when I allowed all my troubles to melt away. I felt like I was able to view things from a completely grander perspective. All the things in life that I thought were important and worth worrying about suddenly became so minute.
That's when the eyes to my soul opened up and I fell in love with the land. The beauty of the ocean, the trees, and the flowers wrapped around me like a shawl. As I pressed my toes into the warm sand, I felt completely vulnerable and open to whatever God allowed to come my way. Just when my heart felt like it was about to break from all the burdens I felt inside, God would send a surprising squall. While many raced inside to get out of the rain, I found myself walking slowly enjoying the passion that God allowed in the huge drops of rain. It was refreshing and transforming.
It was with those thoughts in mind after my journey home that I sat down with pen and paper and wrote this poem within a few seconds. The words came quicker than my pen could write. And now, many years later, I can read this poem and remember that any time I feel alone all I have to do is open my eyes and look around me. He's every where.
