Welcome

Me & Ruby

My Short Bio....

family I am the youngest of six children. You can see my family at the left. I am there with four of my siblings and my mother. (Top to bottom: Kevin, my Mother holding me, Jaymes, Jeremy, and Teri. There is 14 years between oldest to youngest child.) I was born in California, living the first six years of my life on a 26 acre farm. They say that the first years of our lives form our inner person. I guess that is why I love animals so much. Especially dogs and horses.

In 1976 my parents divorced and my mother moved all the children to Oregon. My older siblings had fled the nest upon arrival with my younger brothers eventually leaving to live with their father. I guess that was the turning point because our family was never close again after that. We talk on occasion but for the most part we are all very different from one another and live our own lives. Sometimes it is very hard to imagine that we are related. My brothers used to tell me that I was dropped off by gypsies...perhaps, they are right! *grin*

Because I have been here since I was six years old, I consider myself an Oregonian. I like having clean air, cool crisp clean water, and being able to see an incredible sunset. The harvest moon cannot be beat. Oh, I forgot, if you are from the west side of the Cascades, you may not be familiar with any of this. I am from central Oregon....where the climate is steppe. You might remember steppe climate from geography class in high school, it’s the climate one step above desert. We get to hug sagebrush and wander where the deer and the antelope roam. Oh yes, one other nice thing about living in Oregon is that believe it or not...we do not have any sales tax. YES!

Katie 2008I am a single Mother. My daughter's name is Kathleen Rose but she likes to be called, Katie. She is the light of my life. She is now a teenager....scary!!!! You can learn more about Katie by going to her page. I have always wanted to be a mother but was told early on that it would be impossible for me to get pregnant. So, Katie is my miracle child. I can't imagine life without her. She is indeed my pride and joy...perhaps the one thing I've ever done right! I raise Katie completely on my own as her father has never been in the picture. I am thankful that I do not have to share custody and tear my daughter between two homes. Unfortunately, she really misses having a father and I understand that completely. Little girls always want to be, "Daddy's Little Girl." There is just that special connection that they long for and need. She had an adopted Grandfather who used to like to spend as much time as possible with her, giving her a positive male role model, but he passed away in 2007.

Being a parent is probably the most important job in the world to me. I have never really desired a career outside the home until recently; I have always wanted to be a wife, mother, and homemaker. I take pride in where I live. I love to decorate, try out new recipes, website design, travel, geocache, read interesting books, write poetry & books, watch movies, canoe, hike, long walks, swim in natural bodies of water, study archaeology, astronomy, and Biblical history. My biggest passion is helping others. There is never an end to the things to do in the day and I'm usually busy from the time my feet hit the floor until I go to sleep at night. However, I do have fainting spells, seizures and Chronic Fatigue so when any of them act up, I feel it's God telling me it's time to stop and smell the roses. That's when I pour myself a cup of tea and just relax, cuddle with my daughter while watching a movie, or just veg.

Since moving to Bend in 2006, I have found it very challenging to develop quality friendships. I'm learning that integrity is something that is rare and so is just being REAL. I'm always game to meet someone new as long as they have positive qualities. I don't believe in surrounding myself with negative people because they just breathe negative energy. I tried it thinking we could build one another up, but found it just didn't work. Instead we all deteriorated. I want to be a positive force in other's lives. I have always believed there is good in everyone and if you can't find it, then you aren't looking deep enough with your heart. I want to leave this world knowing I made a positive difference in some small way. I want to give more than I receive.
